1.       The reason that Gillespi was so mean and angry at Virgil was because Virgil had went against Gillespi when he said that Sam had done a stupid thing in bringing Virgil in as a suspect, and said that Sam did everything right and followed procedure perfectly.

2.       When Virgil just takes getting yelled at in a racist matter and says “good morning sir” it shows that he is a calm person who has tough skin. It also shows that Virgil has v. It also shows that Virgil has very good self-control.

3.       Frank Schubert is the city’s mayor and also on the city board who runs the police.  Schubert and Gillespi get in to an argument over wither or not to have Virgil take on the Mantoli case. The way that he finally convinces Gillespi to allow Virgil to take on the case is by telling him that if Tibbs takes on the case and fails everyone will be mad at him and not Gillespi but if Tibbs succeeds and finds the murderer he will have to hand the case over to Gillespi and let him take all the credit because Tibbs does not work for that police force and therefor is not permitted to close a case.

4.       I believe that the quote “To Gillespie’s intense relief, he didn’t smell” is just another example of the prejudice Gillespi has towards black people. This one just happened to be that he assumed that because he was black he would smell bad .                                                                                        The quote “If Chief Morris asked me to,” Tibbs replied promptly “id go to England to look for Jack the Ripper” means that Tibbs has so much respect for his chief that he would do anything that he asked of him.                                                                                                                                           I assume that when Tibbs tell the mechanic that he is the fall guy he is referencing that when Gillespie can not figure out the case he will just blame Tibbs for it.                                                     The quote “I don’t want to be conspicuous’ shows that Tibbs likes to think ahead.                          “I can give you some good refrences,” Tibbs answerd. “There in California. San Quentin.” Shows that tibbs knows that hes not actually welcome here and will not be ab;le to have as many resources as he would back home to solve this case.

Our Ideas

The idea that my group came up with was to make a game show called "All Around AllStar". This game consists the best players from the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLS, MLC, ATP. Assignment 3

The quote that I choose is “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make the horse drink, unless you have the horses mother locked up in a cage somewhere”. The reason that I choose this quote is because it shows how the book is written in a happy but dark mood throughout the whole book. One of the parts that I liked about the quote is that it took a very old saying and twisted it in a dark way, the reason that I like that is because I as a reader like it when authors take “history” and make it more modern! The reason that this quote is important in the plot is because it concretes your feeling about the antagonist Dr.Hatch who up until this point you could not tell wither he is a protagonist or an antagonist. The thing that drew me to this quote is that the day that I read it I had actually heard the saying “you can lead a horse to water but you can not make him drink” at least one time in every class. In this quote the author builds up a lot of suspense up until this quote, which has made the book such a good book to read, because you can never tell who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.

Assignment 4

My author’s style of writing is informal because he uses some of the characteristics of an informal piece such as dialogue, slang and lower level language.  Richard Paul Evans uses a verity of sentences but the majority of them are short and mostly dialogue. The novel is organized in a chronological order (in order of sequence). I believe that the author made these choices because of the type of story. For example if he were to write the story in a formal style of writing then the story line would be much more dull. Another reason that I believe he made the choice to have lots of dialogue is because it has help discover the characters in the story. These two main choices that he has made has made the story much more easy to read because I genuinely want to sit down and read the book.

Assignment 5

            My favorite part of my book so far is when Dr.Hatch, the antagonist, takes Michael’s mother away from him in the parking lot of pizza planet late at night. The reason that I liked this part so much is because not only does it have a lot of action, but it is also kind of sad at the same time because you know that a small boy that only has one friend and just a single mother will be losing his mother and have to fend for himself from now on.
